Summary
New language learners want to be able to learn languages in a more practical way to enable them to easily apply the knowledge in the real world. VR Lingo is a virtual reality solution that takes a hands-on approach to language learning, immersing users in real-life scenarios where they can actively practice and apply what they've learned.

Problem Statement
Current language-learning methods often lack real-world interactions and interactive structures, which limits learners' ability to develop practical language skills. Research (Bazzaza et al., 2016) highlights the need for more practical learning methods, a finding echoed in our preliminary study, where 87.5% of participants expressed a desire for more application-focused language experiences. To boost learners' confidence and proficiency, more immersive approaches leveraging immersive technologies are needed to create realistic, interactive environments for language practice.
Proposed Solution
Using a natural approach where language is learned without grammar structures but aimed at attaining communicative competence (Aksu and Gonul, 2014).
Dual Coding in language learning helps learners to learn using two connected codes, verbal using language vocabulary and non-verbal using mental imagery (Sadoski, 2015).
Integrating real-life scenarios that users will typically find themselves in into the app so as to easily apply them to a real-life event.
